Veteran’s Day Salute
Happy Veteran’s Day 2019. This is my Dad who served on the U.S.S.Oglala in WW2. It saw a lot of action in the South Pacific after it was sunk in the bombing of Pearl Harbor, was salvaged after sinking 4 more times in trying to repair her! Dad was the US Mailman on the Oglala. He always said when things were exploding and missiles flying, being close to the seams, where the ship was repaired after such a tragedy, somehow brought him comfort, gave him hope, and a sense of peace….that we would triump in the war. If WE could salvage a ship that badly damaged…..WE as a country would recover from such a horrific attack and WE could DO ANYTHING! VICTORY!
Note: as of the year 2000 when my dad died, the service men of the Oglala, felt so strongly about their time of service on her, they were still having yearly reunions.
My sister
My sister has been sick lately and I have lagged behind in my blog but I think that is Ok. Until now my blog has been daily pictures, quotes, things I love and while people love Instagram, I have just been introduced to it. So since I have started writing again, I do believe that my writing will be taking space here now, and I have started with Veteran’s Day. Marie Osmond writes for Sunday’s and I have not decided my format yet but a new adventure awaits. I might create a calendar because I know I am assing book reviews too. So here I go!
Happy Birthday, Dear Brother
As I sit here and remember the good times and bad times we have had, and the fact that in the last 5 years, I have redone your famiy home and it’s now called Memories Manor, I find a when moving leaves some writing you put in the concrete. I’ve had rhw house 5 years now, I just found this memory. It reminds me you were truly here, you walked among us, you gave me hugs once. And i miss you even more than when I lost you in 1995.
